The primary objective of meeting for worship is to glorify and worship God in a reverent way with the Word of God at the centre. The aim of the ministry at Bethesda is to preach Jesus Christ and Him crucified, the only hope and salvation for lost men and women ruined by sin (1 Corinthians 2:2).
For those who may be unconverted, our hope is that they will be convicted of sin under the Word and flee to Jesus Christ for salvation. For those that are converted, we hope that their souls will be fed and sustained by the Word and ministry.
We currently have an itinerate ministry at Bethesda with supply ministers coming from different parts of the country to our pulpit. Mr Michael Ridout, who is the only minister among us and has the oversight of the church preaches for around half of the services in a year.
The Structure of our Worship Services is as follows:
- Hymn
- Reading
- Prayer
- Hymn
- Sermon
- Hymn
- Benediction
We stand to sing and remain seated for the other parts of the service.
We use A Selection of Hymns for Public Worship originally compiled by William Gadsby in 1814 during worship. Please follow this link for an online version: Gadsbys Hymns
We use the King James (Authorised) Version of the Bible as we believe it is the most accurate translation available in the English language (See Leaflet). Please follow this link for an online version of the Bible: The Holy Bible.
